At GaLaBau's side for over 20 years - Stefan Dittrich, Head of GaLaBau NürnbergMesse

"GaLaBau offered a platform that I really wanted to help shape" – a portrait of Stefan Dittrich, Head of GaLaBau

Since Stefan Dittrich took over the role of event director in 2012, he has made a significant contribution to the ongoing successful development of the leading international trade fair for urban greenery and open spaces in Nuremberg.

GalaBau has always been by his side – professional beginnings

His personal liaison with GalaBau has now lasted for over two decades. Dittrich's first contact with GaLaBau was on September 15, 2002, when he visited the trade fair for the first time as a student. Being so enthusiastic about the trade fair business, he started a trainee program at NürnbergMesse in the GaLaBau event team just under a month later. "The experience, the closeness and the diversity at the trade fair left a lasting impression on me and motivated me to start my career in this exciting industry and also to join the team of my favorite event," recalls Dittrich.

After successfully completing his trainee program, Dittrich switched to sales at GaLaBau. Here he deepened his knowledge and expanded his network in the industry and played a key role in exhibitor growth. In 2012, he was then promoted to Event Manager. Assuming this new responsibility, he was able to realize his visions for the trade fair and the industry.

"GaLaBau offered me the ideal platform to contribute my skills and ideas, to help shape the event and to develop GalaBau into the industry highlight together with our partner, the Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V. (BGL). The respectful dialog and fruitful cooperation have always been particularly important to me – side by side, we have brought GaLaBau forward and developed it into one of the most important platforms for gardening and landscaping in Europe. I am very proud to be part of this great community," explains Dittrich.

Stefan Dittrich has been committed to the further development of GaLaBau since the 2004 edition.

A look into the past

GaLaBau 2002 and GaLaBau 2022 in comparison:

  • Increase in the number of halls from 10 to 14
  • Increase in the number of exhibitors from 847 to 1093 exhibitors
  • Increase in the number of visitors from around 49,000 to 62,000
  • Teamwork and partnerships – key factors to success

"The success of a trade fair is always teamwork," explains Dittrich. The cooperation with partners and customers is the best example: "The continuous success of GaLaBau is based on the committed interaction between everyone involved in GalaBau. This includes my team, which is responsible for organizing the trade fair and acquiring exhibitors, as well as a strong marketing team that uses innovative strategies to keep GaLaBau visible and relevant in the industry. Last but not least, our partnership with the BGL, with whom we are constantly developing the trade fair side by side, deserves special mention," says Dittrich. This cooperative approach has made a decisive contribution to establishing the trade fair as a key event in the green sector.

Diversity, innovations and visions for the green industry

Dittrich also emphasizes the central role of the green industry as a response to global environmental and climate challenges. "At a time when sustainable solutions are becoming increasingly important, GaLaBau offers an indispensable platform for innovations that make our living spaces more environmentally friendly and sustainable," says Dittrich.

Dittrich pays particular attention to the diversity and colorfulness of the industry, which is also reflected at the GaLaBau trade fair. "It's fascinating to see how broad and diverse our sector is. From traditional landscaping and sustainable urban development to the latest ecological technologies – GaLaBau is a kaleidoscope of this diversity and offers our trade visitors the opportunity to gather information, discover exciting new products and network with people."

Inspired for the industry into the future

In recent years, GaLaBau has not only grown, but has also further expanded its importance as an international meeting place. Today, it is one of the most important industry gatherings in the world. The anniversary edition demonstrates the strength of this industry, which is working together towards a more sustainable future. "The continuous development of GaLaBau and the growing international interest confirm that we are on the right track. Our aim is to continue to position the trade fair as a leading platform for the exchange and presentation of diverse products and innovations in the green sector," concludes Dittrich.

Thanks to Stefan Dittrich and the cooperation of a dedicated team, GaLaBau has become a central forum that inspires and brings together the entire industry.
