A garden stands for life, joy, pleasure, and diversity. It is a living space, an oasis of calm, a play or utility area and, for many, the heart of their property. One thing is especially important if you want to enjoy a beautiful garden: an effective irrigation system. This statement stems from Fiona Sailer, CEO of hide and grow in Heilbronn.

The company hide and grow, founded in December 2022, offers customers a modern irrigation system that helps save time, effort, and water, and at the same time permanently preserves the value of a garden and its plants. Fiona Sailer explains how the idea for this product was born.

“The manual irrigation of gardens can be laborious and oftentimes results in a high water consumption,” Fiona Sailer explains. “Even time-controlled underfloor or sprinkler systems do not consider the actual water needs of plants, which can often lead to hyperhydration. Plus, due to the danger of frost, these systems have to be switched off in winter.”

“The hide and grow irrigation system is very advanced,” emphasizes Fiona Sailer. “The water supply solely depends on the actual water needs of different plants and their location in the garden. They are only watered when necessary. We have developed ground sensors that measure changes in ground temperature and humidity on a daily basis. Via Bluetooth, this information is then sent to the intuitive control unit. The control unit provides a reliable, precise, and fully automatic water release – even in winter. This works because all pipes of the water circuit can be fully vented without any manual intervention, ensuring an all-year irrigation of the garden.”

Fiona Sailer is a 30-year-old newcomer to the gardening and landscaping industry that quickly fell in love with the sector. “I grew up in Heilbronn and went to school there. I then studied tourism management at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. My career began with Jung Electronic in Heilbronn where I worked as a project manager between customer, development, and production.” Fiona Sailer first came into contact with the gardening and landscaping industry when redesigning an outdoor facility. This project resulted in a cooperation with the landscaping company José Soares Landschaftsbau. They started developing the irrigation system – with Fiona Sailer as project manager.
