How do gardening and landscaping professionals, civil and structural engineers, or experts in road construction find a job that suits them? And where do construction companies find suitable employees? Dr. Anna Hocker has answers to these questions. She refers to the company Crafthunt in Munich, where she is part of the management team. The company states that Crafthunt operates Europe’s largest platform for construction site jobs.

When asked about her mission, Dr. Anna Hocker is quick to reply: “Satisfied employers and satisfied employees are very important to me. I am convinced that a candidate is not necessarily a good match for a company just because the facts on paper say so. This is why I closely monitor application procedures and focus on the human component – aside from all automations, AI algorithms, and hard data that certainly also play a role.”

The 32-year-old Dr. Anna Hocker grew up in Düsseldorf and has already gained extensive experience doing research and working in the field. “I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management at the Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU). I completed my Master of Science in Management and Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich. And at the Institute for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at TU (Technical University) Dortmund, I did a PhD on Entrepreneurial Behaviour. My career then took me to different startups, digital companies as well as a management and recruitment consulting firm.”

Crafthunt was founded by Jonas Stamm, Patrick Christ, Emil Kirchheiner, and Themi Tsiotas von Pfaler in 2022. Dr. Anna Hocker has been completing the founding team since 2023. Currently, more than 30,000 job seekers are registered on the internet platform – anonymously and free of charge. Each construction worker decides for themselves when to show their personal data. On the other side, there are more than 700 registered companies that are looking for employees. They create profiles and provide comprehensive information for potential applicants, e. g. photos of construction projects and machinery.

Dr. Anna Hocker wants to use GaLaBau to engage in conversation with landscape gardeners. “We already have several customers in this area – landscape gardeners looking for jobs as well as gardening and landscaping companies with job offers. We would like to expand this area at Crafthunt.”

Crafthunt is one of the exhibitors at the joint stand Young Innovators. This area is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and can be found in Hall 3C. NürnbergMesse offers companies in the International StartUp Area special conditions for participating in GaLaBau, the leading International Trade Fair for Urban Green and Open Spaces (www.galabau-messe.com/en). The fair takes places from 11 – 14 September 2024.
