The planbar company was founded in 2018 and is based in Bocholt, close to the Dutch border. Landscape gardeners are still their biggest customer group, but by now, their software – that can be described as a digital planning board – has also reached floor tilers, drywall builders, and electricians. David Zimmermann is one of the founders. He explains the benefits that companies gain from using their solution for cloud-based resource planning.

The 33-year-old has his professional roots in the gardening and landscaping industry. “I did an apprenticeship as a landscape gardener in a company in Bocholt and passed the exams as top student of the year,” he remembers. “I then did an internship year in Switzerland before starting the master craftsman training at the school for horticulture in Essen in 2013/2014. Today, I am dedicated to planbar, but I am also the managing partner at the company Garten Gradiflora in Bocholt.”

David Zimmermann shares the management of planbar with Martin Steib, Johannes Telaar, and Arne Hendricks. Together, they develop and sell a software that can digitally map a company’s time tracking, order planning, personnel planning, holiday planning, and machine planning. Plus, users can electronically manage construction site records and the post calculation of orders can be done online. Another advantage: You do not always need a computer to use the application. There is also an additional mobile app available.

“For us, it is especially important to offer our customers suitable interfaces,” David Zimmermann adds. “You can therefore perfectly combine planbar with the products from the industry software providers KS21 and Rita Bosse. Also, you can directly transmit certain information to the billing software DATEV. This saves an important resource: time.”

Looking ahead is essential for the planbar team. “We have made it our mission to optimise communication in the interests of our customers. We want our products to enable companies to optimise their streams of information. To achieve that, we concentrate on the relationships between company and employees, company and subcontractors, as well as company and customers,” describes David Zimmermann the process.

And what does David Zimmermann do in his spare time? “I am a passionate sailor,” he says, smiling.

planbar is one of the exhibitors at the joint stand Young Innovators. This area is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and can be found in Hall 3C.
