The GreenSpaces BENEFITS Module is the first of its kind in Europe. It extends the well known and widely used facility management platform for urban green areas GreenSpaces to assess the real value of urban green areas. Based on scientific research it calculates the environmental revenues generated by the green infrastructure and allows to demonstrate the importance of urban forests in mitigating the effects of a changed climate.
Managers of cities or green areas can now quantify the benefits and use this information to defend their budget for maintenance. At the same time they can show to the public a tangible quantification of the benefits and demonstrate the importance of their work.
