Timberlab’s manufacturing facility is in Otterlo, close to Arnhem in the East of the Netherlands. The company offers its customers an extensive range of outdoor lights. Jan Möllenbeck works as sales representative for Germany – excluding Berlin – and explains why the company can be considered sustainable.

“At Timberlab, we take on the challenge of putting sustainability into practice,” says Jan Möllenbeck. “It is our passion to develop innovative lighting solutions that do not only respect the natural environment but also blend in perfectly. Our goal is to offer solutions that are functional and at the same time aesthetical and environmentally friendly.”

The lamps Timberlab offers are made of wood, a renewable resource. Customers can choose from streetlights, lamp posts, path lighting, uplights, and wall luminaires made of various woods such as oak and chestnut. All raw materials are sourced from certified sustainable cultivation. “Thanks to the wide selection and great variability, our outdoor lights can be integrated precisely into our customers’ existing or planned garden and open spaces,” says Jan Möllenbeck. Apart from lights, Timberlab also offers reflector poles, charging posts for electric cars and special solutions like insect hotels.

“If customers have any special wishes, they can always contact us,” Jan Möllenbeck continues. “We have a great development department in the Netherlands. We regularly produce prototypes and the LED panels that we use in our outdoor lights are developed and produced in-house. Our whole team is very open-minded when it comes to new ideas and enjoys sharing ideas.”

When talking to Jan Möllenbeck, you immediately notice that he really enjoys his job. “I live in Hamminkeln, close to the Dutch border. This small village is also where I grew up,” he tells. “It is only 50 miles away from the Timberlab head office, which is very convenient for me.” The 31-year-old describes his career as follows: “After school, I started an apprenticeship as a landscape gardener, but then decided to become an IT specialist for application development instead. At first, I worked for an online delivery service for organic food.” Jan Möllenbeck had already been working part-time for Timberlab for a while before he started his full-time position in sales on the 1st of March 2024.

Timberlab is one of the exhibitors at the joint stand of the International StartUp Area. This area is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and can be found in Hall 3C. NürnbergMesse offers companies in the International StartUp Area special conditions for participating in GaLaBau, the leading International Trade Fair for Urban Green and Open Spaces (www.galabau-messe.com/en). The fair takes place from 11 – 14 September 2024.
