Interview with Stefan Dittrich: Insights into GaLaBau 2024

Between 11 and 14 September 2024, the green industry will gather in Nuremberg for the 25th anniversary edition of GaLaBau. GaLaBau is the only and leading trade fair that covers the whole range of products and services for designing, constructing and maintaining urban, green and open spaces, as well as sports fields, golf courses and playgrounds. With about three months to go before the event begins, Stefan Dittrich, Director GaLaBau at NürnbergMesse, summarizes all the highlights of the trade fair and provides an insight into the current status of preparations.

Stefan Dittrich, business in the horticultural and landscaping sector is good. Are developments with the trade fair looking just as positive? How are preparations going at the moment?

Dittrich: Yes, the trade fair is developing very well this year, which is certainly at least partly due to the fact that the mood in the industry is positive. It goes without saying that we’re very pleased about that! In addition to all the major industry players, many exciting new young companies are also taking part again this year. We have reached our target of 60,000 square metres of exhibition space for GaLaBau 2024, as well as the 1,000 exhibitors we were aiming for. All in all, we are looking forward to a very promising four days at the trade fair, which will once again be sure to make a significant contribution to the further development and cohesion of the industry.

What can visitors expect at GaLaBau 2024?

In 14 exhibition halls and in the outdoor presentation areas, we will cover all the needs of horticultural and landscaping companies, landscape architects, municipal representatives, motorists and operators of playgrounds, sports fields and golf courses. Whether it’s maintenance machinery and equipment, construction machinery and equipment, materials and components or plants, GaLaBau offers the best orientation on all the latest popular products in all areas. The varied and attractive supporting programme once again offers numerous highlights. The programme ranges from various themed forums and presentation areas with fantastic demonstrations to award ceremonies and competitions such as the Landscape Gardener Cup. One of the purposes of GaLaBau is to provide the industry with a platform for dialogue and targeted solutions to acute challenges. For example, how does GaLaBau support the implementation of climate adaptation measures?

To ensure that this important topic receives the necessary attention, GaLaBau 2024 will once again feature the GREEN-BLUE PATH. Green-blue infrastructure in gardening and landscaping, such as climate-resilient greenery, climate trees or intelligent solutions for rainwater management, can help to make cities and open spaces more resilient to extreme weather events such as heatwaves and heavy rainfall. We therefore use the GREEN-BLUE PATH to highlight exhibitors who showcase technologies, services and products such as green roofs and façades, sustainable software solutions, rainwater management systems, permeable surfaces, gutter systems, environmentally friendly drainage systems and sustainable landscaping strategies at their stands. All participants in the GREEN-BLUE PATH have been checked and approved in advance by an experienced panel of experts.
